Job Description
This position is based on the Atlantic coast approximately 1-1/2 hours South of Casablanca at a site where a major fast-track expansion of phosphate process complex is underway. The prospective employer is serving as the EPCM Contractor for the local Client, and this position is primarily related to administration of unit priced construction contracts. Candidate must be senior “hands on” Chartered QS with experience in large scale heavy industrial projects. Candidate must have experience in civil, mechanical and electrical quantification and pricing using established unit prices, and be proficient in evaluation and negotiation of new and/ or revised unit prices, and experienced in resolution of related claims. Candidate must be a confident and experienced negotiator. Experience with contractors of different nationalities is a plus. Candidate will be responsible for managing and negotiating closeout of quantity re-measurement elements of unit priced contracts, and for providing support in resolving all disputed items.
Responsibilities
• Management of unit priced elements of construction contracts, valuations and variations through to final accounts.
• Assisting with preparation of monthly commercial reports on progress of unit priced items of work.
• Evaluating and negotiating variation requests.
• Preparing monthly valuations to the client.
• Provide junior staff with guidance on their job responsibilities.
• Negotiating with contractors’ representatives.
• Identifying changes and implementing change control process.
• Keeping project manager fully appraised of risk issues which have arisen or might arise.
• Manage the contractual aspects of the Unit Priced elements of work.
• Provide contractual and commercial advice to the Project Manager and his team.
• Identify shortfalls in existing policies and procedures and formulate recommended corrective actions.
Requirements

• Educated to degree level (or similar) in Quantity Surveying or another similar subject (MRICS preferred).
• Experienced in engineering with a hands on role in all disciplines including MEP.
• Practical knowledge of the standard forms of contract documents.
• Hands on experience in the preparation and review of monthly cost and value reports, forecasting of cost and value.
• Good commercial awareness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with particular focus on contractual communication.
• Previous experience in a QS/ Project QS/ Senior QS role or equivalent, working at mid-management level.
• Experience working for main contractors/ MEP subcontractors preferred
• Enthusiastic attitude to work.
• A strong desire to achieve project goals.
• Strong planning, organization, evaluation, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English oral and written.
• Excellent computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Power Point).
• International work experience
• Achievement and goal orientated.
• Cultural awareness and team player.
